1. Who we are
Split-Side (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a live sports event chat platform operated by Split-Side, Inc. You can contact us at support@split-side.com for any privacy-related requests.
2. What data we collect
- Account data: email address, display name, avatar image, favourite team.
- Usage data: events you join, team side chosen, chat messages you send, poll votes and wager amounts.
- Technical data: IP address, device type, browser, page URLs, referrer. Collected by us and our service providers for security and analytics.
- Error data: stack traces and error context collected by Sentry when the application encounters a fault. We do not attach your email or full name to error reports — only an internal user ID if needed for deduplication.

4. Data processors
We share your data with the following processors under data processing agreements (DPAs):

5. Cookies and local storage
We use strictly necessary cookies to maintain your login session (set by Supabase Auth). We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Vercel Analytics collects page-view data without cookies or persistent identifiers. See our Cookie Policy for full details.
6. Data retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Chat messages and poll votes are retained for the lifetime of the associated event. If you delete your account, your personal data is removed within 30 days. Anonymised or aggregated data may be retained indefinitely.
7. Your rights
Under UK GDPR, EU GDPR, and applicable US state laws (CCPA/CPRA and similar), you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data (right to erasure)
- Request a portable copy of your data
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
To exercise any of these rights, email support@split-side.com. We will respond within 30 days. UK/EU users may also lodge a complaint with the ICO (UK) or their national supervisory authority.
8. International transfers
Our primary infrastructure is located in the United States. When your data is transferred from the UK or EU to the US, we rely on Data Processing Agreements with our processors that include the UK International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA) or EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) as applicable.
9. Children
Split-Side is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU/UK). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at support@split-side.com.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of Split-Side after changes constitutes acceptance.
